This house renovation is done Georgia and it achieved the first LEED Platinum certification in the area. It serves as a model of greener living for the entire community and heavily focuses on reducing energy use and the reuse of materials. The 4 bedroom, 3 bath project features triple pane low-e argon windows, high efficiency Energy Star LED lighting fixtures and compact fluorescent bulbs and spray foam insulation.
Other energy efficiency and water saving upgrades include a solar thermal hot water system with an on-demand hot water circulation loop, dual-flush toilets and low-flow bathroom fixtures, Energy Star Appliances, programmable thermostat with high efficiency gas furnace and air conditioners, mechanical ventilation, as well as a 5000 gallon rainwater collection system for irrigation. The necessary plumbing, for the future use of greywater or rainwater for toilet flushing, has also been installed.
